Urinary bladder catheterization
Placement, replacement or removal of a urinary catheter
Bladder catheterization is used to empty the bladder in patients who have difficulty passing urine on their own or to aseptically sample urine.
Our nurses perform catheterization of women and men at home, in accordance with hospital standards. The procedure involves inserting a drain into the bladder through the urethra. The use of local anesthesia reduces the discomfort accompanying the procedure. Depending on the material of the catheter and the individual needs of the patient, the tube is replaced every 7 days or even every 3 months.
