Hangover IV treatment on demand

The Hangover (veisalgia, alcohol poisoning) is a syndrome following ethanol consumption (overdose, intoxication). Most common unpleasant symptoms of hangover are the malaise, fatigue, headache, dizziness, nausea, thirst, dry mouth, lack of appetite, vomiting or even seizures. Direct mechanism responsible for causing these symptoms is not clear. Alcohol affects many metabolic pathways, and therefore the occurrence of the hangover may be due to a number of factors, of which probably the most important are dehydration (inhibition of the vasopressin action), hypoglycemia, and acetaldehyde intoxication.

One way to mitigate the effects of intoxication with ethanol contained in alcoholic beverages and accelerate recovery is an IV drip containing e.g. electrolytes, sugars and vitamins. IV infusion may also contain insulin and analgesics and / or antiemetics. Hangover drip works immediately and brings relief in minutes after administration. The effectiveness of therapy depends on individual predisposition and condition of the patient. The method described above is no way to fight the alcohol addiction.
